Top NFL Prospect Abdul Carter Opts Out of Penn State Pro Day Due to Ongoing Shoulder Rehabilitation

Abdul Carter, the defensive standout, will not participate in the Penn State Pro Day as he continues recovering from a shoulder injury sustained last season.

Abdul Carter, one of the leading prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft, will not be performing at Penn State’s Pro Day. This decision comes as he is still in the recovery phase following a shoulder injury he acquired last season.

The information was shared via Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus. He noted that while the player might have workouts scheduled for NFL teams in the future, the primary focus at this time is to complete his rehabilitation.

“He is still finishing up rehab on the shoulder injury he had from the Boise State game,” stated Rosenhaus. “He may still do a workout for teams sometime in mid-April.”

Last season, Carter managed to play through this injury during a loss in the Orange Bowl against Notre Dame. However, further medical evaluations later revealed a stress reaction in his right foot at the NFL Combine.

Although he did not partake in any workouts at the Combine, Carter was still eligible for physical tests and interviews with several teams. He is anticipated to be a top-five selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, with forecasts suggesting he could be chosen as high as number two overall by the Cleveland Browns.

Carter expressed confidence in his abilities stating he believes he is the best player in the upcoming draft, declaring, “the best player should be selected No. 1.”

As of now, the Tennessee Titans hold the number one overall pick and are expected to prioritize selecting a quarterback.
