Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is on the brink of making NHL history. Recently, he scored his 889th goal, closing in on Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals. He is now just six goals shy of surpassing Gretzky’s illustrious mark. Projections indicate a 62.17% chance of him breaking the record this season, particularly between April 12-17.
Ovechkin has scored three goals in his last six games and currently has 36 goals and 24 assists this season, aiming for his third 40-goal season in four years. The Capitals are also in the running for the Presidents’ Trophy, awarded to the NHL team with the most points.
