Auburn's star player Johni Broome showcases resilience by returning to the game against Michigan State after a severe elbow and knee injury.

Auburn star forward Johni Broome returned to Sunday’s Elite Eight game against Michigan State after suffering apparent elbow and leg injuries due to an awkward landing while defending a shot at the rim. Broome fell to the floor in pain with 10:37 left in the game, which ended in a 70-64 victory for the Tigers.

After undergoing x-rays that returned negative, Broome came back to the court with 5:29 to go. He immediately made a defensive rebound and followed it up with a three-pointer.

The injury caused concern for his mother, who was filmed in tears in the audience. In a moment of fear, Broome told his teammates as he walked off, “I’m done.”

After receiving a warm welcome from the fans in Atlanta, Broome confirmed his readiness for the Final Four next week, stating, “It was a scary moment, but my team had my back.” Despite the return, it was evident he was favoring his right arm, noting past injuries.
