Trae Young Takes on Assistant GM Role at Oklahoma

NBA star Trae Young returns to his alma mater, Oklahoma, as an assistant general manager, with plans to significantly impact player personnel management.

Former Oklahoma star and current Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young announced his return to his alma mater as an assistant general manager for the basketball program. He becomes the second active NBA player to take on such a role, following Stephen Curry of Davidson College.

Young stated, “I’m excited to announce that I’m accepting a role with OU basketball as an assistant GM, as well as making a million dollar donation, to help kickstart this whole thing.” He aims to leverage his experience and connection to the community to contribute to the program’s success.

Other notable appointments in college basketball include Adrian Wojnarowski at St. Bonaventure and Jim Tanner at North Carolina.

Young’s ties to Oklahoma and commitment to improving the men’s basketball program have been warmly received by the community, with Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione expressing his gratitude for Young’s ongoing support.
