Notre Dame's Olivia Miles Enters Transfer Portal Instead of WNBA Draft
Star guard Olivia Miles opts for future opportunities over immediate transition to WNBA.
Notre Dame guard Olivia Miles, projected as the No. 2 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has opted not to go pro this year. Instead, she will enter the transfer portal, according to Shams Charania.
Miles, a senior, has gained an extra year of eligibility after taking a medical redshirt last season.
Her decision comes as a surprise, as she was expected to be a high lottery pick following a strong season where she averaged 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, featuring a significantly improved three-point shooting percentage at 40.6%.
In light of her exit from Notre Dame, she now holds the potential to maximize her earnings by waiting for more favorable rookie contracts expected in the new CBA coming in 2026.
If she had declared for this year’s draft, she would have been limited to the current rookie scale. In 2025, these contracts would yield approximately $78,831 for first-year players, but her delay might net her an additional $100,000 if she waits to enter the WNBA in 2026.
Miles’ return could alter the landscape of both Notre Dame basketball and the upcoming WNBA draft dynamics.
