Yankees' Top Prospect Advocates for Torpedo Bat in 2025 Season

Spencer Jones, a promising first-round pick from 2022, endorses the use of the torpedo bat as he prepares for the upcoming minor league season.

Spencer Jones, the outfield prospect for the New York Yankees and a first-round choice in the 2022 draft, will utilize the torpedo bat in the Double-A league this season. He disclosed this decision on Tuesday and expressed his satisfaction with the bat’s performance during training. Jones stated:

“They showed me that my bat barrel was like 20th percentile in barrel size. Why am I using a bat with a tiny barrel when I can maximize that? It’s obvious for me to start using a bigger barrel.”

Jones, 23, who had a decent batting record in the previous season but also faced massive strikeout rates, sees the torpedo bat as a potential game-changer. His performance has stirred both excitement and skepticism among analysts, with Judge opting to avoid the new bat due to his established success.
