AC Milan need to restructure their club after a disappointing season which has led the Rossoneri to multiple changes. Now the team is set to appoint Italian director of football Fabio Paratici at the club, per multiple sources.
The Rossoneri have been searching for a new sporting director for weeks, and Paratici has emerged as the leading candidate, surpassing former Lazio boss Igli Tare and Andrea Berta, who joined Arsenal. AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani personally held discussions with Paratici, who is eager to return to Serie A, where he previously served as sporting director for Sampdoria and Juventus before his tenure at Tottenham in England.
Paratici is still serving a 30-month ban related to a capital gains investigation, which concludes on July 20; he currently serves as an external consultant for Tottenham after resigning in April 2023.
The 52-year-old has extensive experience, including a successful partnership with current Inter president Giuseppe Marotta during his time at Juventus, where notable signings included Carlos Tevez, Paul Pogba, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Paratici’s role at AC Milan will focus on rediscovering the club’s ambitions and preventing the confusion and missteps evident since club icon Paolo Maldini departed in summer 2023.
AC Milan currently sits ninth in the Serie A standings, with a Champions League appearance next season looking increasingly doubtful. Following the November appointment of Sergio Conceicao to replace Paulo Fonseca, it is likely that further managerial changes will be made soon.
