Zambia Withdraws NWSL Players from China Tournament Due to U.S. Travel Policies

Zambia has excluded four NWSL players, including Barbra Banda, from an upcoming tournament in China, citing concerns over U.S. travel restrictions.

The Football Association of Zambia has announced the withdrawal of four NWSL players from the women’s national team’s roster for the upcoming Yongchuan International Tournament in China due to concerns related to U.S. travel policies. Players Barbra Banda, Grace Chanda, and Prisca Chilufya from Orlando Pride, alongside Rachael Kundananji from Bay FC, will no longer participate in the tournament. This decision was made to avoid complications during their return to the U.S. The FAZ, led by General Secretary Reuben Kamanga, provided a formal statement emphasizing that the players would be available for future games.

“FAZ general secretary Reuben Kamanga says the four players … will not be available owing to additional travel measures introduced by the new administration in the United States of America.”
