NBA Investigates Ja Morant's Gun Gesture Towards Warriors' Bench

The NBA is examining an incident involving Ja Morant who mimed a gun gesture towards the Warriors' bench during a game. This follows a prior incident with Buddy Hield.

The NBA is “looking into” a gesture made by Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies during a recent match against the Golden State Warriors. Morant was observed mimicking the action of aiming a firearm at the Warriors’ bench.

According to ESPN, this occurred after a timeout was called following successful free throws by Jimmy Butler. It appears that Buddy Hield might have sparked the incident with his own gesture. “Warriors guard Buddy Hield actually seemed to spark the incident when he made a gun-toting gesture toward the court from the Dubs bench during a free throw late in the fourth quarter. After the free throw and a called timeout, Morant then made the gesture back at Hield and toward the Warriors bench.” As a result, both players received technical fouls.

Draymond Green’s immediate reaction to Morant’s gesture was notably captured in a video, showing the context of the incident clearly.

Considering Morant’s previous suspensions related to firearm displays on social media, it is evident why the league is keen to investigate this further. His absence could add insult to injury for the Grizzlies, who are currently struggling in the league.
