NBA Issues Warnings to Ja Morant and Buddy Hield for Gun Gestures
The NBA has sent warnings to players Ja Morant and Buddy Hield for making inappropriate gun gestures during a recent game, while also addressing concerns regarding the conduct of both teams involved.
The NBA has issued warnings to Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies and Buddy Hield of the Golden State Warriors for making gun gestures at the conclusion of their last game, as reported by ESPN.
While the league found these gestures not violent enough to warrant suspensions, they deemed them inappropriate for court conduct.
Earlier, the NBA began investigating Morant’s behavior during the match after receiving reports regarding his gesture towards the Warriors’ bench.
The incident escalated when Hield appeared to initiate the situation with his own gun gesture, leading to both players receiving technical fouls. As SFGATE noted, this sequence of events began following a timeout after a set of free throws made by Jimmy Butler.
In light of Morant’s previous suspensions related to gun incidents, the NBA is particularly concerned about his actions, especially as the Grizzlies struggle in their standings, having lost several recent games, which might further impact the team if he faces additional penalties.
