Kevin Durant Reflects on His Time with the Nets Despite Challenges
KD shares cherished memories from his stint with the Nets, emphasizing the potential that was never fully realized.
With the Phoenix Suns visiting the Brooklyn Nets recently, Kevin Durant reflected on his turbulent time with the franchise. Despite the challenges, he still cherishes his time there.
Durant acknowledged some level of dysfunction during his three seasons with the Nets. The trio of Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden played together in only 16 games. He was traded to the Suns midway through the 2022-23 season.
Despite this, Durant insists that when they were all healthy, it was a great fit, and he wishes they had more time to play together. “I think that was the main thing, that we just didn’t get on the court together… A lot of injuries affected things, including COVID, causing confusion. Basketball-wise, camaraderie-wise, I thought it was ideal.”
In the latter part of the 2020-21 season, after Harden’s arrival from the Houston Rockets, Durant witnessed some of the best basketball he’d ever seen. Although they didn’t reach their potential as a team, Durant still appreciates the time spent with the franchise.
Durant’s experience in Brooklyn is reminiscent of the situation currently surrounding Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, where Butler has expressed discontent and was recently suspended.
