One of the most remarkable receivers of the modern era, Julio Jones, has officially decided to retire. Jones, who enjoyed a highly celebrated 13-year career in the NFL, announced his departure from the game today.
During his time with the Atlanta Falcons, Jones established himself as a formidable force on the field, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and two First-Team All-Pro titles. Following his selection as the sixth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, he made an immediate impact by joining the Pro Bowl ranks in 2012, continuing that streak for several consecutive years.
“It was an amazing ride,” Jones commented in an online announcement of his retirement. This heralds the conclusion of a storied career that saw him lead the league in receptions and yards multiple times, contributing significantly to the Falcons’ journey to the Super Bowl.
Despite injuries in his last seasons, Jones capped off his career with an impressive legacy, finishing with 914 receptions, 13,703 receiving yards, and 66 touchdowns. He is a certain candidate for future Hall of Fame induction, eligible for the first time in 2029.
