Travis Hunter made it clear that he wants NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to announce him as both a wide receiver and defensive back when he gets selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. After a standout performance at Colorado’s Pro Day, Hunter emphasized this desire during a CBS Sports HQ interview. He stated, “He better say, ‘Wide receiver and DB.’ I need him to say, ‘Wide receiver and DB.’”
Entering his final collegiate season, Hunter was a standout at both positions in college football, catching 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 13 touchdowns while also excelling in defense with four interceptions. His incredible performance won him the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver and the Chuck Bednarik Award as the best defensive player.
Hunter aims to show NFL scouts that he can handle both roles and argues, “I had to show them these hands and [that] I can run routes; they say I can’t run routes, so I had to show them.”
