Carla Bernat Escuder Captures Title at 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur with a Stunning Final Round

Carla Bernat Escuder wins the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in a thrilling finale, finishing with a remarkable score of 68.

The 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur moved from Champions Retreat to Augusta National for the final round.

Carla Bernat Escuder made an impressive final-round 68 to secure the victory by one shot against 16-year-old Asterisk Talley.

Bernat Escuder commenced the day tied for third at 8 under, just one shot behind Kiara Romero and the defending champion Lottie Woad. Both leaders struggled, giving the chasing players a chance on a stunning day in Augusta, Georgia. Escuder made four birdies on the front nine, including nearly making an eagle on the ninth hole, where she left herself a simple tap-in before heading to the back nine.

On the 10th hole, Escuder holed a long putt for par and maintained her momentum despite Woad’s double bogey on the same hole.

Escuder faced a pivotal moment on the 13th as she deliberated whether to attack the par 5 in two or lay up. Choosing to go for it, she executed a superb shot into the center of the green and made a two-putt birdie, extending her lead to three shots, the biggest margin of the day.

Woad made birdies on the 13th and 14th to get back in contention, but she could not replicate her remarkable finish from 2024. Talley charged significantly, ending her day at 11 under with a final-round 68.

Talley started with an impressive eagle on the first hole. Though she stumbled with bogeys on the 5th and 6th, she rallied with birdies on 7 and 8 to remain competitive. Talley made critical back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17, showcasing her talent.

While Talley notched an eagle to end at 11 under, Escuder had a slim lead by the final hole. Both players found the 18th green with strong drives. Although Escuder’s approach was tricky, she managed to secure a par putt to win at 12 under.

The victory solidified Bernat Escuder’s excellent week, becoming the first player to post scores in the 60s across three rounds at the ANWA.
