Cleveland Browns Eye Travis Hunter in Historic NFL Draft Decision

The Cleveland Browns contemplate selecting Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, a decision influenced by their struggles in the passing game last season.

The 2025 NFL Draft is just over two weeks away, and quarterback Cam Ward is the strong favorite to be picked first overall by the Tennessee Titans. This sets the stage for the Cleveland Browns, who are drafting second overall with a critical decision between Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, and Shedeur Sanders, among others.

Many NFL executives see Hunter as the favorite for the second pick, regarded as a potential game-changer on both offense and defense at a crucial time for the Browns, who need assistance in both realms. The Browns, in 2024, had the highest number of interceptions thrown (23) and the fewest takeaways (four), marking a historic low in interceptions for a singular season by a team on both offense and defense. The last occurrence was recorded in 1955 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Browns Passing Performance Last Season:

Offense Defense
Yards per attempt Last 26th
Pass TD 28th 17th
Interceptions Last Last
Passer rating Last 27th

While a more competent quarterback could address the offensive issues directly, the Browns might find the options at the number two pick less than favorable. They can instead look for a dual-threat solution, like Hunter, who expressed his desire to play every snap on both sides of the game.
