Tyrese Maxey Ruled Out for Remaining NBA Season After Finger Injury
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey will miss the rest of the season due to a reinjured finger, following a difficult spell with injuries.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a finger injury, as reported by the team on Wednesday. Maxey last played on March 3 due to a back sprain and a sprained finger on his right hand.
Maxey’s agent, Rich Paul, informed ESPN’s Shams Charania last Thursday that Maxey would not participate in the Sixers’ upcoming games. Despite initial hopes, a subsequent assessment from coach Nick Nurse confirmed Maxey was sidelined for the duration of the season.
The official statement from the team indicated:
“During his ramp up to return to play, Tyrese Maxey reinjured his sprained right finger, which was confirmed by a recent MRI. Because of the reinjury and related pain and swelling, he will be unable to play for the rest of the regular season. He is expected to make a full recovery.”
In the 52 games Maxey has participated in this season, he averaged 26.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists, showing significant growth compared to the previous year. However, he struggled from beyond the arc while improving defensively.
The current team performance has been disappointing, with a record of 23-56, positioning them as one of the bottom teams in the league. The focus now will be on rebuilding for the upcoming season.
