Isaiah Augustave no longer part of Colorado football team, raising concerns over running game
The departure of Colorado's leading rusher Isaiah Augustave adds pressure to a struggling rushing offense as they aim to find replacements.
Isaiah Augustave, who was pivotal in Colorado’s rushing game, has left the program. This change comes as a significant blow to the team’s offensive strategy since Augustave was their leading rusher during the impressive 2024 season.
During 2024, he amassed 384 rushing yards and tallied four touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry—a stark contrast from the team’s overall rushing average of 2.5 yards per carry.
Despite these contributions, Colorado grapples with a national ranking of last in rushing offense, recording only 65.2 yards per game. This season, there were nearly 614 passing attempts opposed to only 235 designed runs. With Augustave’s exit, Coach Deion Sanders faces the challenge of revamping a run-heavy strategy as the team also loses several key offensive players from last season.
For replacements, players like Micah Welch and Dallan Hayden are expected to step into the spotlight, aiming to inject life and effectiveness into the running game, which is vitally required for Colorado to become competitive again.
As the current team prepares to adjust, the attention will be on how effectively they can restructure following these major transitions.
