Eddie Howe Hospitalized, Misses Key Match Against Manchester United

Newcastle's Eddie Howe is in the hospital and will not be coaching the team in their crucial match against Manchester United.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe will miss his team’s match against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday after being hospitalized. Feelings of illness prompted Howe to check into the hospital on Friday night where he is currently undergoing tests.

“Medical staff kept Eddie in hospital overnight for further tests, which are ongoing. He is conscious and talking with his family, and is continuing to receive expert medical care.”

“Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery, and further updates will follow in due course.”

In his absence, assistant managers Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team at St. James’ Park. Newcastle currently sits seventh in the Premier League and is aiming for Champions League qualification, with games in hand on teams above them. Their next opportunity to capitalize on this is on Wednesday against Crystal Palace.

Assistant Tindall has communicated with Howe multiple times a day and expressed confidence in a quick recovery for the manager before the weekend.
