Mark Andrews' Possible Destinations: Top Teams for Veteran TE as Ravens GM Stays Noncommittal on Trade

A deep dive into potential landing spots for Ravens tight end Mark Andrews as speculation about his future swirls.

The NFL Draft can be unpredictable, not just regarding who will be drafted where, but also about players currently under contract. Could the upcoming annual event see a significant trade involving one of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets?

Last month, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence that tight end Mark Andrews would remain part of the team, stating, “he’s just too good a player.” In contrast, general manager Eric DeCosta’s remarks were less definitive regarding the veteran’s future.

When asked about a potential trade for Andrews during the draft, DeCosta responded evasively, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of such decisions.

“Oh man. I never know what’s gonna happen … I would never want to say this or that,” he said. “But I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior. And he has played exceptionally for us; his competitiveness, talent, attitude, and leadership are invaluable here. We aim to retain as many great players as possible. There is always unpredictability with the draft.”

Should the Ravens choose to part ways with Andrews, they could still rely on Isaiah Likely, who had a breakout season last year, achieving career highs in receptions and touchdowns.

Andrews, for his part, scored a career-best 11 touchdowns last season but had a season marred by a crucial dropped two-point conversion that could have changed the outcome of a playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

Here are three teams that could be ideal landing spots for Andrews if the Ravens decide to trade him:

  1. Colts - Struggling at tight end last season, they need a consistent pass catcher to enhance their offense.
  2. Bears - With a rookie QB and a struggling offense needing a top tight end, Andrews could be a key asset.
  3. Jets - After a hard year and a new team structure, the Jets could also benefit from a veteran presence at the tight end position.
