Harriet Dart's Apology Over Deodorant Request to Opponent During Match

British tennis player Harriet Dart has expressed regret after requesting her opponent to wear deodorant, citing unpleasant odors during their match.

Harriet Dart, a British tennis player, recently apologized after she was caught asking the umpire to advise her opponent, Lois Boisson, to use deodorant, claiming that Boisson ‘smells really bad.’ This comment was overheard by courtside microphones during their Rouen Open match on Tuesday, where Dart lost with a score of 6-0, 6-3.

Dart’s Request

“Can you tell her to wear deodorant? Because the smell. Can you tell her to wear deodorant? She smells really bad,” she was recorded saying to the umpire.

The umpire’s response was not captured, but viewers noted Boisson remained on the opposite court.

Dart’s Apology

After the incident, Dart took to her Instagram account to express her regret, stating: “I want to apologize for what I said on the court today, it was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret. That’s not how I want to carry myself, and I take full responsibility. I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed today. I’ll learn from this and move forward.”

Boisson’s Reaction

In a humorous response, Boisson shared a photoshopped image of herself holding deodorant during a serve on her Instagram stories, tagging Dove with a playful suggestion of a collaboration.

Boisson made her WTA Tour debut at the Rouen Open and is currently ranked No. 303 following a knee injury last year. She is set to face Moyuka Uchijima in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
