
Heat Triumph Over Hawks in Overtime, Make NBA Playoff History as First No. 10 Seed
The Miami Heat secured their spot in the NBA playoffs, making history as the first No. 10 seed to advance, following a thrilling overtime victory against the Atlanta Hawks.
Tyler Herro scored 30 points, including two critical three-pointers in overtime, leading the Miami Heat to a 123-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. This landmark win allows the Heat to become the first No. 10 seed in history to reach the NBA playoffs during the Play-In Tournament era. Despite initially losing their early advantage, the Miami team displayed resilience. Davion Mitchell contributed to the scoring in overtime after a modest performance in regulation.
Atlanta’s Trae Young was pivotal, tying the game in regulation with a layup just seconds before the end, securing overtime with a personal tally of 29 points and 11 assists. Young’s teammate, Onyeka Okongwu, also excelled with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Miami’s path to victory was notable; they began the game strongly, building a lead of 17 points early on. The Hawks fought back to equalize, showcasing their determination. Miami will proceed to face Cleveland in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
“We have to be more willing to take contested 3s,” said coach Quin Snyder regarding team strategies following their previous match against Orlando.
The Heat made history by becoming the first No. 10 seed to make the NBA playoffs since the introduction of the current play-in format in the 2020-21 season.
