The Seattle Seahawks have turned their quarterback room on its head this offseason, and they may not be done wheeling and dealing. The club is open to offers for backup quarterback Sam Howell, according to ESPN.
This comes after a major offseason reshuffle for the position in Seattle. Recently, the Seahawks traded starter Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders and signed Sam Darnold for a three-year, $100.5 million deal. They also added veteran Drew Lock to strengthen the team’s quarterback lineup, which includes Jaren Hall.
With four quarterbacks currently on the roster, it is likely that Seattle will trim this number down. Last season, under head coach Mike Macdonald, they finished with three quarterbacks. Similarly, new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak maintained three quarterbacks during his tenure with Minnesota and New Orleans, while the previous coach Pete Carroll routinely operated with only two.
Howell’s presence may be jeopardized, especially if Seattle can negotiate a trade. He joined Seattle last offseason in a deal with the Washington Commanders that involved several draft picks.
