NHL Coaching Changes: Rangers Part Ways with Peter Laviolette, Ducks Let Go of Greg Cronin

A review of the latest coaching changes in the NHL following the end of the regular season.

After the conclusion of the NHL regular season, significant coaching changes have occurred. The New York Rangers decided to relieve Peter Laviolette of his duties following a disappointing season, marking the end of his two-year tenure where he recorded an overall record of 94-59-11, including an Eastern Conference Final appearance in 2024. Chris Drury, the general manager, expressed gratitude for Laviolette’s contributions, emphasizing his character and dedication.

Meanwhile, the Anaheim Ducks also made a coaching change, dismissing Greg Cronin after two seasons. Although the Ducks improved their record in 2024-25 to 35-37-10, they still fell short of playoff contention. Pat Verbeek, the general manager, cited the need for a fresh direction following Cronin’s tenure.

As the postseason progresses, further coaching changes are expected, so keep an eye on CBS Sports for updates.
