NBA 2025 Awards: Complete List of Finalists for MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and More
The NBA is set to announce award winners during the playoffs, revealing the finalists for prestigious honors.
The NBA’s regular season has recently concluded, and while much attention turns to the playoffs ahead, we also take a moment to reflect on the 82 games just played. In the approaching weeks, the NBA will disclose the winners of this season’s major awards. On Sunday, the league unveiled the three finalists for each of the seven most esteemed individual awards. Below is the complete list:
2025 NBA Awards Finalists
- Most Valuable Player: Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Defensive Player of the Year: Dyson Daniels, Draymond Green, Evan Mobley
- Rookie of the Year: Stephon Castle, Zaccharie Risacher, Jaylen Wells
- Sixth Man of the Year: Malik Beasley, Ty Jerome, Payton Pritchard
- Most Improved Player: Cade Cunningham, Ivica Zubac, Dyson Daniels
- Coach of the Year: Kenny Atkinson, J.B. Bickerstaff, Ime Udoka
- Clutch Player of the Year: Nikola Jokić, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards
Among the finalists, only two are vying for multiple awards. Jokić is a candidate for both MVP and Clutch Player of the Year, while Daniels competes for Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player. However, only Daniels appears favored for an award, and he’s currently so for just one of his two opportunities to win.
While the NBA doesn’t adhere to a strict schedule for announcing awards, we can anticipate that several will be revealed during the initial playoff rounds, with the MVP commonly awarded in the second round, sometimes with the player accepting it on their home court before a playoff game. Specifics remain unknown, but winners will be disclosed soon. Now that we have the finalists, the races for awards are close to concluding.
