Donovan Mitchell Matches Michael Jordan's Playoff Feat in Cavaliers' Victory Against Heat

In their playoff opener, the Cavaliers triumphed over the Heat, with Donovan Mitchell equaling a historic record set by Michael Jordan.

In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs, Donovan Mitchell dropped 30 points, while Ty Jerome contributed 28 points, with 16 of those coming in a crucial fourth quarter. This performance led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a victory, defeating the Miami Heat by a score of 121-100.

Mitchell’s scoring marked the seventh consecutive playoff series in which he scored at least 30 points in Game 1, equating a record previously set by Michael Jordan.

For the Heat, Bam Adebayo scored 24 points and Tyler Herro added another 21 points. This team holds the distinction of being the first No. 10 seed to progress beyond the Play-In Tournament.

In addition, Darius Garland scored 27 points for the Cavaliers, who will host Game 2 on Wednesday. Cleveland’s shooting had a notable three-point success, landing 18 of 43 attempts from long-range.

Cleveland held a 16-point lead during the second quarter; however, Miami managed to tighten the score, bringing it down to 98-90 late in the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers sealed the game with a commanding 13-4 run, highlighted by Jerome’s remarkable scoring spree in his playoff debut.
