Overview
After a weekend of notable coaching changes, the NHL coaching carousel continues as the Seattle Kraken announced the firing of head coach Dan Bylsma after just one season in charge. The Kraken finished the season with a disappointing record of 35-41-6, landing seventh in the Pacific Division with a total of 76 points.

Kraken’s general manager Ron Francis thanked Bylsma for his commitment but ultimately decided a change was necessary for future success.
“We thank Dan for his commitment and the energy he brought to our organization over the past four years at the NHL and AHL levels. After a thorough review of the season and our expectations for next year and beyond, we’ve made the difficult decision to move in a different direction behind the bench.”
New York Rangers
In another significant change, the New York Rangers have parted ways with Peter Laviolette following a season that did not result in a playoff appearance. Laviolette had an overall record of 94-59-11 over two seasons.
“Peter is first class all the way, both professionally and personally, and I am truly grateful for his passion and dedication to the Rangers in his time as head coach,” stated Rangers’ general manager Chris Drury.
Anaheim Ducks
Additionally, the Anaheim Ducks also made a change, dismissing Greg Cronin after two seasons. Cronin recorded a 27-50-5 record in his first season and improved to 35-37-10 in 2024-25 but still failed to secure a playoff spot.
“This decision is tough as I have a lot of respect for Greg, but needed a change in direction and a new voice,” stated Ducks GM Pat Verbeek.
