Luis Arráez, a star player for the San Diego Padres, has been placed on the 7-day injured list due to a concussion. This follows a serious incident during a game against the Houston Astros on Sunday night, where he collided with second baseman Mauricio Dubón while attempting to reach first base on a bunt.

Arráez appeared to take Dubón’s shoulder to his head and fell to the ground, requiring several minutes of medical attention before being carted off the field.
A statement from the Padres confirmed that Arráez is stable, conscious, responsive, and able to move his extremities. Initial assessments showed that he avoided fractures, sustaining only a small laceration on his jaw.
After the game, manager Mike Shildt informed the press that the testing presented the “best-case scenario.”
In the current season, Arráez maintains a .287/.330/.425 batting average. He previously earned three consecutive batting titles with three different teams, securing the AL crown in 2022 with the Twins, followed by NL titles in 2023 with the Marlins and 2024 with the Padres.
In his absence, infielder Mason McCoy has been called up to fill his position in the active roster.
