Celtics' Jayson Tatum Doubtful for Game 2 Against the Magic
Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is questioned for Game 2 of the playoffs due to a wrist injury, possibly affecting the series against the Orlando Magic.
As the Boston Celtics aim to gain a 2-0 lead in their playoff series against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, they might have to do so without Jayson Tatum.
Boston has listed Tatum as doubtful for Game 2 due to a right distal radius bone bruise. He likely sustained this injury during the fourth quarter of Game 1 when he collided with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Wendell Carter Jr.
Despite this, Tatum completed the game, playing for 40 minutes.
“Just sore after the game. It’s gotten a little better today,” Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla mentioned regarding Tatum’s wrist injury. “He’s going to go through some on-court work and go from there.”
During Tatum’s absence on the court, Mazzulla was seen urging him to get up. Although Tatum has faced ankle and knee issues earlier in the season, he has featured in 72 games.
In the Celtics’ 103-86 victory over the Magic in Game 1, Tatum amassed 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from the field (8 out of 22 attempts).
Overall, Tatum, a four-time All-NBA accolade holder, had an impressive regular season average of 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, showcasing a shooting split of 45.2% FG, 34.3% from three-point range, and 81.4% from the free-throw line.
