Bears Icon Steve McMichael Moves to Hospice Care in ALS Battle

Steve McMichael, a prominent player for the Bears' legendary 1985 Super Bowl team, has entered hospice care as he continues to battle ALS.

Exactly four years after he publicly announced that he has ALS, Steve McMichael has entered hospice care. Jarrett Payton, the son of former McMichael teammate Walter Payton, announced this via social media.

Since his diagnosis, McMichael witnessed his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which he watched from home while surrounded by family and former teammates. McMichael, aged 67, was a key player on the Bears’ famed 1985 Super Bowl-winning team. Known as ‘Mongo,’ he is remembered as one of the greats in NFL history. His bond with teammates like Walter Payton and Richard Dent continues to inspire fans and players alike.
