Jalen Brunson of the Knicks Named 2024-25 Clutch Player of the Year, Tops Nuggets' Nikola Jokić
Jalen Brunson is recognized for his exceptional late-game performances this season, edging out Denver's Nikola Jokić for the Clutch Player of the Year award.
Jalen Brunson has been named the 2024-25 NBA Clutch Player of the Year, as announced on Wednesday. He joins De’Aaron Fox and Stephen Curry as notable winners. This makes him the first player from the Knicks to earn a major individual award since Julius Randle was honored in 2020-21.
Brunson secured 70 of the 100 first-place votes, surpassing Nikola Jokić, who finished in second place with 26 votes. Anthony Edwards came in third with two.
One key highlight is how Brunson’s late-game skills secured the Knicks’ No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, as he accumulated 156 points in clutch situations, slightly trailing Edwards with 157. However, Edwards participated in 42 clutch games compared to Brunson’s 28, showcasing Brunson’s efficiency with an impressive shooting percentage.
The award results were determined based on a global panel of voters coordinated by NBA head coaches, with complete voting results shared via the NBA’s official communications.
This recognition comes as the Knicks conclude a notably competitive season in clutch scenarios, demonstrating Brunson’s value as a vital asset for New York.
