Jayson Tatum's Status Uncertain Ahead of Game 3 Due to Wrist Injury
Boston Celtics' star Jayson Tatum is doubtful for Game 3 against the Orlando Magic due to a severe wrist bruise.
Jayson Tatum remains questionable for the Boston Celtics as they prepare for Game 3 against the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference first-round series. The star forward is dealing with a significant bone bruise on his right wrist, which he sustained during Game 1 after a fall following a foul. Tatum did not participate in Game 2, during which the Celtics secured a 2-0 series lead.
“He’s dealing with a severe bone bruise,” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla commented on a Boston radio program. “He’s day-to-day. He’s progressively gotten a little bit better each day. (Wednesday) he went through all the protocols and did everything he could possibly do up until the last moment to try to play.”
Wednesday marked the first playoff game Tatum has missed in his career, having previously played 114 consecutive postseason games for the Celtics since being selected as the No. 3 pick in the 2017 draft.
Tatum has averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in the regular season, leading the team in all three categories. The Celtics’ next game is scheduled for Sunday in Orlando, with Game 5 potentially taking place Tuesday in Boston.
