76ers Confirm Paul George Will Miss Lakers Game Amid Trade Talks for Jimmy Butler
The Philadelphia 76ers have announced that Paul George will be sidelined for the upcoming matchup against the Lakers, with speculation surrounding a potential trade involving Jimmy Butler.
The Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George did not participate in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a finger injury, marking the 15th game he has missed this season.
George suffered tendon damage to the little finger on his non-shooting left hand after an incident on Saturday against Chicago. He is scheduled for another evaluation before the game against the Sacramento Kings, although he is not expected to be out for long.
On the same day, George’s name came up in trade rumors as reports suggested the Sixers might be interested in acquiring disgruntled Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler. Philadelphia had previously attempted to trade for Butler before they signed George to a four-year, $212 million contract last summer. A potential swap makes financial sense, as George is contracted for $49.2 million this season while Butler’s salary is $48.7 million.
Meanwhile, Joel Embiid also sat out against the Lakers and is expected to miss the upcoming game against the Kings. He did participate in warm-ups, dressed in full uniform after practicing handstands the day before.
George, now 34, has already been sidelined this season due to knee, groin injuries, and load management. He is averaging 17.1 points and recently scored 30 points in a victory against Cleveland during the first year of his four-year, $212 million deal.
