Ohio State Leads the 2025 NFL Draft with Top Picks from SEC and Big Ten Schools

The 2025 NFL Draft saw a significant dominance from SEC and Big Ten schools, further emphasizing their strength in college football.

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft was dominated by power conference schools, as the SEC and Big Ten were ubiquitous with 26 of the first 32 picks coming from these conferences.

That trend continued on Friday night during Day 2, with 21 more players from SEC and Big Ten hearing their names called among the 32 second-round picks. Today’s college football landscape, influenced by the transfer portal and NIL deals, has made it unlikely for top talent to remain long at smaller programs.

In total, 66 of the 102 players selected in the first three rounds finished their college careers at SEC or Big Ten schools. The four power conferences combined accounted for 90 out of 102 selections on the first two nights of the draft, highlighting a clear dominance of talent.

The schools leading in NFL Draft picks were as expected, with national champion Ohio State achieving the highest record with seven draftees in the first three rounds. Following closely were Texas, Oregon, and Georgia, each contributing six players to the NFL.
