Minnesota United’s head coach Eric Ramsay has emerged as a potential candidate for the vacant managerial position at Southampton. This comes as the club navigates a difficult phase, aiming for a swift return to the Premier League after an abysmal season where they tallied only 11 points from 34 matches.
Ramsay, aged 33, previously served as a player development coach at Chelsea and later at Manchester United before joining Minnesota United in February 2024. In his first season, he achieved significant success, leading the team to sixth place in the Western Conference and advancing to the conference semifinals.
His previous experience and multilingual skills may provide him an edge in future opportunities, as he has expressed openness to roles outside English-speaking locales.
As Southampton seeks to rebuild, Ramsay’s potential arrival could mark a substantial opportunity amid changes in management with Simon Rusk currently acting as interim head coach.
