Damian Lillard Suffers Possible Torn Achilles; Coach Rivers Comments on Prognosis

Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard left a playoff game against the Indiana Pacers with a potential torn Achilles, raising concerns about his health.

Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard exited Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers due to a lower left leg injury that has raised fears of a torn Achilles.

After sustaining a non-contact injury in the first quarter, Lillard was unable to return. He was assisted off the court and into the locker room, sparking concerns as reported by NBA insider Chris Haynes.

“They’re going to do an [MRI] tomorrow. Obviously, it’s lower leg,” said Coach Doc Rivers. “Just being honest, it’s not very promising.”

Lillard, a seven-time All-NBA player, had been playing when the injury occurred. Following a moment where he reached for a ball, he fell and clutched his ankle, remaining on the floor until play stopped.

After halting the game with a foul, Kyle Kuzma helped Lillard up, but he exited limping.

He had previously missed the last 14 regular-season games and the first playoff game due to deep vein thrombosis in his right calf, but had resumed play for Game 2 of this series.

“The guy tried to come back for his team. I just feel bad for him,” Rivers expressed regarding Lillard’s injuries.

As the game continued, the Pacers took advantage of Lillard’s absence, quickly leading the Bucks 15-12 before extending that lead to 3-1 in the series. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Indianapolis.

“I’ve seen injuries deflate teams, but tonight, that one hurt,” Rivers remarked about the impact of Lillard’s going down.
