Shaquille O'Neal Takes on Role as Sacramento State's GM, While Son Shaqir Returns to Play

The Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal will serve as the general manager for Sacramento State, alongside his son who transferred to the team earlier this offseason.

Shaquille O’Neal is joining Sacramento State as its General Manager. This role will be unpaid, as confirmed by CBS Sports. His son, Shaqir O’Neal, had previously committed to playing for Sacramento State’s new coach, Mike Bibby, after transferring from Florida A&M.

“According to ESPN, Shaquille O’Neal’s position is unpaid.”

In addition, O’Neal has a historical connection to Sacramento, having been a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings from 2013 to 2022. Widely known as a 15-time All-Star, he also continues to work as a sports analyst on TNT’s “Inside The NBA”.

Bibby, who played for the Kings during their peak years, was recently appointed as the head coach.
