USC Basketball Prospect Alijah Arenas Recovering Well After Car Accident
Alijah Arenas, a basketball recruit for USC, is healing after a severe car crash, with no serious injuries reported.
Alijah Arenas, a basketball recruit for the Southern California Trojans who recently faced a serious vehicle crash, appears to be on the mend with no significant injuries reported.
The 18-year-old, son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, was taken out of an induced coma last Friday, just one day following the accident which took place in Reseda, San Fernando Valley.
“Happy to announce that Alijah is doing much better,” Josiah Johnson, who hosts Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, announced on Monday. “Just got off the phone with Gil. … Alijah’s doing better, walking, talking, progressing very well, and should be released from the hospital very soon. No major injuries resulted from the car crash.”
“Feliz de anunciar que Alijah está mucho mejor.”

According to Johnson, Alijah was returning from a workout when he ’lost control’ of the Tesla Cybertruck he was driving, leading to the crash against a tree and/or hydrant. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the accident happened shortly before 5 a.m. on Thursday, but the exact cause remains unspecified.
Arenas had committed to the Trojans back in January, and he had made history as the first boy to score 3,000 points in his high school career at Chatsworth High.
