Arsenal legend Thierry Henry expressed his disappointment with the team’s play in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals. He noted that Arsenal made numerous errors, contributing to Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 victory, which came from Ousmane Dembele’s early goal.
Henry pointed out that although Arsenal found some rhythm later in the match, especially during the final 20 minutes, they struggled initially against PSG’s pressure. He praised PSG’s manager, Luis Enrique, for adept game management in the latter stages.
“Paris Saint-Germain were far superior for me in this game; a lot needs to be changed to ensure Arsenal can compete with them in the return match.”
Henry emphasized the importance of careful play from the beginning and highlighted specific missteps, particularly how Arsenal’s players dealt with PSG’s pressing. He described the need for tactical adjustments moving forward to remain competitive.
“When you face pressure from a team like PSG, you must be spot on… You can’t allow them to play inside.”
Despite the loss, he acknowledged that trailing by just one goal meant that everything was still to play for in the second leg in Paris.
“Anything can happen. I said it before – PSG didn’t score that second goal to seal the tie; you’re still in the tie.”
