As Shedeur Sanders fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, discussions circled his perceived underperformance during pre-draft meetings. Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, believes these criticisms are unjust and is calling for the anonymous critics to reveal their identities.
On a recent episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Kelce commented on Sanders slipping to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round despite being previously regarded as a top prospect. Concerning the critiques, Kelce voiced strong opinions.
“I think whoever the f—ing anonymous person that’s f—ing saying this should f—ing come out and say who they were, like, what the f— is that about?”
When Sanders was drafted in the later rounds, CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones claimed it reflected negatively on how he and his camp managed the draft process.
Regardless of the reasons behind Sanders’ drop, Kelce expressed optimism about him joining the Browns:
“God, I love this for Cleveland. I really do, man. The Browns fan deep down in my heart is just like, ‘F— yeah.’”
Despite his unexpected draft position, Sanders possesses the potential to establish himself as a prominent player. Kelce mentioned, “This is gonna be such a fresh start for him. I could see him working his ass off and becoming the starting quarterback in Cleveland at some point for sure.”
Kelce added, “I’m not sure why he dropped, whether it was the interviews or what they saw on film. What I saw on film, I thought he was a way higher pick. That’s all that should matter.”
