Father of Pacers' Haliburton Given Indefinite Suspension Following Giannis Confrontation
John Haliburton, father of Pacers player Tyrese Haliburton, faces suspension for confronting Giannis Antetokounmpo after a recent playoff game.
John Haliburton, the father of Pacers’ point guard Tyrese Haliburton, has been banned from attending any future Pacers games indefinitely following an altercation with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
During a post-game encounter, John Haliburton approached Antetokounmpo after the Pacers celebrated their advancement in the NBA playoffs. Giannis later recounted the incident stating, “I believe in being humble in victory… at the moment, I thought he was a fan, but then I realized it was Tyrese’s dad. I feel like that’s very, very disrespectful.”
Tyrese Haliburton commented on the matter, expressing his disagreement with his father’s actions: “I think basketball is basketball and let’s keep it on the court.” Furthermore, John issued an apology via social media, stating, “I sincerely apologize to Giannis, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Pacers organization for my actions following tonight’s game.”
The Pacers are next set to face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs starting on May 4.
