Nuggets Coach Critiques Free Throw Disparity Following Playoff Game 6 Loss
Denver Nuggets' interim coach David Adelman expresses frustration over the officiating following a close playoff game against the LA Clippers, emphasizing the minimal free throw opportunities for Nikola Jokic.
In Game 6 of the NBA playoffs, the interim coach of the Denver Nuggets, David Adelman, voiced his frustration about the officiating following the Nuggets’ 111-105 loss to the LA Clippers. He expressed disappointment about the lack of free throws awarded to his star player, Nikola Jokic, who went to the line only twice despite significant physical contact during the match.
Adelman lamented that the Nuggets received just nine free throw attempts compared to the Clippers’ 15, which he attributed to the aggressive defensive strategy imposed by the Clippers. He stated, “Nikola gets fouled a lot. I’m not sure what was happening tonight, but for him to shoot two free throws with the amount of contact that was going on out there was absolutely crazy.”
With the series now at 3-3, Adelman and Jokic are eager for the decisive Game 7.
Adelman warned, “If that’s the physicality we’re allowed to play with, we’ll react to it.” Failures in previous closeout games have added pressure on the Nuggets to perform in this high-stakes situation.
As the playoffs continue, both teams know that the next game will determine who advances, with Jamal Murray asserting that the team’s approach must reflect desperation and intent to secure victory. Jokic sadly observed that he views every game as critically important, emphasizing the need to treat it like any other game.
With both teams demonstrating resilience and skill, the finale promises to be an intense battle.
