Kuminga Could Return for Game 7 as Warriors Face Off Against Rockets
Jonathan Kuminga may rejoin the Warriors' rotation for their crucial Game 7 against the Rockets following his absence since Game 3.
Jonathan Kuminga started as a player for the Golden State Warriors in the opening of the season, but his role diminished towards the end of the regular season. Steve Kerr explained that the shift was largely due to the changing roster dynamics, becoming more focused on the play of Jimmy Butler.
“Every game is different, and I think Jimmy’s arrival took away a lot of Jonathan’s minutes at the four,” Kerr stated. “We have to assess everything as we prepare for Game 7.”
As the playoffs commenced, Kuminga found himself out of the rotation when facing the Houston Rockets. An injury to Butler allowed him to play in Games 2 and 3, but he was sidelined again upon Butler’s return for Game 4. With the Warriors now struggling after losing Games 5 and 6, Kerr might reconsider his lineup options, including the potential re-inclusion of Kuminga while traveling to Houston for Game 7 this Sunday.
Kerr expressed a need for more versatility:
“100% he’s on the table. We feel like we got a great chance to go down there and win Game 7.”
Kuminga’s return could prove pivotal as the Warriors face off against the Rockets’ formidable defense, which has challenged them significantly throughout the series.
