Florida and UConn Set for 2025 Jimmy V Classic Rematch

The reigning champions of college basketball, Florida and UConn, will face off in the 2025 Jimmy V Classic, rekindling their competitive spirit from their encounter in the NCAA Tournament.

College basketball’s nonconference schedule is shaping up for the 2025-26 season, with the latest confirmed matchup featuring reigning national champion Florida against UConn at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V Classic on December 9.

Both schools hold a total of nine national titles, showcasing their recent dominance in men’s basketball. The match gains additional interest due to the prominent coaching figures involved. Notably, UConn’s coach Dan Hurley and Florida’s coach Todd Golden attended the Dick Vitale gala for cancer research together, paving the way for this game after Florida’s recent championship victory. The two teams are the most recent NCAA champions, with UConn winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024, while Florida clinched theirs in 2006 and 2007.

This matchup serves as a rematch from last year’s NCAA tournament, where Florida edged past UConn 77-75 in a tight second-round game, part of Florida’s dramatic championship journey.

The Jimmy V Classic, with its rich tradition of compelling matchups, will be broadcast on ESPN and will also feature a doubleheader with Clemson taking on BYU, highlighted by five-star recruit AJ Dybantsa prospecting for the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.
