Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Pick Six newsletter! We’re just eight days away from the unveiling of the 2025 NFL schedule, and yes, I have a countdown clock on my desk. In just under 192 hours, we’ll see the 2025 schedule, but while you wait, feel free to read today’s newsletter.
1. Ravens Release Justin Tucker
After 13 seasons, Justin Tucker’s journey with the Ravens ended unexpectedly when the team released him. Tucker is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 1,775 points.
Key Points:
- Unexpected Timing: Tucker faces serious allegations of sexual misconduct, accused by 16 massage therapists. Despite prior statements from the Ravens suggesting they would wait for a league investigation outcome, they made the cut ahead of the process’s conclusion.
- Tough Season: Coming off his weakest performance yet, it was clear the organization was exploring replacements.
- New Kicker Setup: The Ravens committed to Tyler Loop, a sixth-round pick from Arizona, who impressed during the recent rookie minicamp.
- Future Additions: They may also be pursuing another kicker, John Hoyland from Wyoming, to further strengthen their roster.
Tucker might go down as one of the best kickers in NFL history, holding multiple records including the longest field goal at 66 yards and enjoying an accuracy rate of 89.1%. Despite this, the allegations could shadow his legacy.
