Authorities Conduct Search at Clinic for Diego Maradona's Medical Files

Police have executed a search warrant on a Buenos Aires healthcare facility to acquire Diego Maradona's medical records amid a trial concerning negligence in his death.

On May 7, 2025, police conducted a late-night raid at a health clinic in Buenos Aires to retrieve the comprehensive medical records of Diego Maradona. This action was taken in compliance with a court order linked to the trial of seven healthcare providers charged with negligence concerning the iconic soccer player’s death.

Pablo Dimitroff, who serves as the medical director of the Los Olivos clinic, confirmed that Maradona had undergone pre-surgical assessments and that the neurosurgery conducted at the facility faced no issues.

However, these assessments were not documented in Maradona’s medical history. Consequently, judges presiding over the trial mandated the seizure of all relevant documents relating to Maradona dated between November 3 and November 11, 2020.

Maradona had surgery for a hematoma located between his brain and skull and was under intensive care from November 4 to 11 before returning home, where he passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.

The police operation commenced around midnight and concluded by 4 a.m. on Wednesday. A report indicated that authorities acquired approximately 275 pages of relevant files and 547 emails exchanged among medical staff involved in the case. The trial is scheduled to continue on Thursday.
