Thierry Henry Lauds Nasser Al-Khelaifi for Reviving PSG's Status

The Arsenal legend expresses his support for PSG as they strive for Champions League glory under their president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Paris Saint-Germain has made significant strides since Qatar Sports Investments acquired the club in 2011. Back then, they hadn’t secured a League 1 title since the 1993-94 season and last appeared in a European final in 2002. Now, they have secured a spot in the Champions League final against Inter Milan on May 31, having won the league eight times in the last decade, with a treble potentially on the horizon. Notably, this success has come without Kylian Mbappe, who transferred to Real Madrid last summer.

What was expected to be a rebuilding season has turned into a campaign showcasing one of PSG’s finest teams, aiming for their first Champions League title. This would not just be a milestone for PSG but also for French football, as no French team has won the UCL since Marseille in 1993. Thierry Henry, the former French international and current CBS Sports analyst, expressed admiration for Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president.

“Being French, I know the pressure you faced, and this city can be harsh when things go awry. You have always handled matters with grace and addressed the team’s needs,” Henry remarked. “When you signed Luis Enrique, I mentioned you had secured a solid coach who would make a difference, and I must thank you for transforming how Paris Saint-Germain is perceived. When I was younger, that was not the case, but you altered everything, enabling the community to engage with the club in a way that was previously not possible. I hope you can take the next step and add another star to your collection. While my team was eliminated, I want PSG to win, as it would validate your efforts and affirm your role in putting Paris back on the map.”
