Curry Describes Hamstring Injury as 'Gut Punch', No Return Timeline Against Timberwolves
Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry discusses his recent hamstring strain, expressing concern over the lack of a set return date.
Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry spoke to reporters on Thursday after shootaround before Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He described his hamstring injury as a ‘gut punch’ and indicated he does not have a set return date.
In the second quarter of Game 1 on Tuesday night, Curry had to reach for his hamstring, struggling to return to the play. After a Timberwolves timeout, he went directly to the locker room and did not come back.
The Warriors announced on Wednesday that Curry has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and will be out until at least Game 4, scheduled for May 12.

Curry hopes to return by Game 5 in Minneapolis, set for May 14, but the team’s medical staff’s assessment will dictate the final decision. He remarked, ‘This is new and from all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process.’ Curry stressed the importance of allowing his body the necessary recovery time.
Curry’s absence poses a significant challenge for the Warriors. They managed to win Game 1 without him, yet their regular season record was considerably better when he played (41-29) compared to when he did not (7-5). Fortunately, other players like Jimmy Butler stepped up, but the team’s dynamics are at their best with Curry active.
Sadly, it remains uncertain when he will be able to participate in this postseason series, closely tied to the team’s ability to prolong it. Stealing Game 1 was crucial to that effort.
