Vitor Belfort, renowned for his fierce striking ability, is being celebrated for his long and illustrious career in MMA, which has now secured him a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame. Known as “The Phenom,” Belfort’s journey began at age 19 with a remarkable victory at UFC 12, where he won a one-night heavyweight tournament. His induction is scheduled for June 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during the International Fight Week.
Belfort’s career, spanning over two decades and comprising 41 fights, included notable victories against many of MMA’s legends, such as Randy Couture and Wanderlei Silva. He earned a reputation similar to that of Mike Tyson in boxing due to his early knockout power, highlighted by a swift 44-second knockout of Silva in 1998.
Dana White, UFC’s president, emphasizes Belfort’s role as a pioneer and maintains that his legacy will be cherished as he enters the Hall of Fame: “Vitor was a pioneer of the sport and is definitely a UFC legend.”
