Shedeur Sanders, regarded as one of the most talked-about players in the recent NFL Draft, experienced a fall to the fifth round where he was chosen by the Cleveland Browns. Initially seen as a potential early-round pick, he is now focused on his personal journey rather than proving critics wrong.
“My job here isn’t to prove people wrong, I’m proving myself right,” Sanders stated during a press conference at the Browns rookie minicamp. He noted that his self-belief remains strong despite the draft’s unexpected trajectory.
In Sanders’ words:
“I just feel like in life and everything, it’s just me versus me. I can’t control any other decision besides that. So I just try to be my best self at all times.”
As he aims for a spot on the roster, Sanders acknowledges the challenge ahead, as he joins veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, alongside fellow draftee Dillon Gabriel. Despite the competition, Sanders expresses confidence in building rapport with his peers.
Regarding his collaboration with Gabriel, Sanders said:
“Cool, normal. Yeah, it been normal. He’s a real cool guy overall. You could tell he always has a great mood. He’s always in a good mood…overall I could tell he is a pretty good person.”
With a clear focus on personal improvement, Sanders is ready for the challenges that lie ahead in the Browns’ quarterback room.
