The 2025 SEC Softball Tournament concluded in an unusual manner as inclement weather in Athens, Georgia, led to the cancellation of the championship game. Consequently, Oklahoma and Texas A&M have been named co-champions.
Despite efforts to adjust the game time due to the forecast of poor weather, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey announced the cancellation on Saturday afternoon, stating:
“Due to inclement weather now and predicted for the rest of the day, today’s championship game will not be played. Both Oklahoma and Texas A&M are declared co-champions for the 2025 SEC Softball Tournament.”
This marks Texas A&M’s inaugural tournament championship since joining the SEC in 2013, while Oklahoma claims a title in its first year in the conference. Both teams now await their regional matchups for the NCAA Tournament, which will be revealed on Sunday.
